NEUROSCIENCE TEACHING FACULTY POSITIONS

The COLLEGE OF SCIENCES of the GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY invites applications for a 12-month, permanent, non-tenure track faculty position (Academic Professional) to contribute to the development of a new B.S. degree program in neuroscience. The position will require classroom teaching as well as coordination of the associated laboratory, and undergraduate advisement. Preferred candidates will have expertise in one or more of the following subject areas: cell and molecular neuroscience, systems neuroscience, behavioral neuroscience. This Academic Professional position (non-tenure track instructional faculty) is a new 12-month appointment that is associated with a new B.S. Program in neuroscience. The individual will teach and contribute to the development of the program.

Initial responsibilities include: (1) teaching (and co-teaching) the foundational course in neuroscience; (2) teaching a section of the GT 1000 seminar course “First Year Seminar”, (3) development and testing of inquiry-based laboratory exercises and the creation of written lab materials (i.e., a lab manual) and teaching/prep room materials (a prep manual); (4) coordination of the laboratory component of the introductory neuroscience course, including training, mentorship and evaluation of Teaching Assistants (TAs); (5) advisement of undergraduate neuroscience majors; and (6) other duties as assigned. Teaching upper division classes will also be possible.
