Faculty Positions in Land and Fresh Water Processes
The School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (EAS) at Georgia Tech invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions in the areas of land and fresh water processes. We are seeking candidates interested in understanding the fundamental mechanisms of the land system through a variety of approaches, including theory, development and application of models of variable complexity, and synthesis of observational data. Areas of particular interest to the department include hydrology and geohydrology, water resources, land-atmosphere and ecosystem interactions, biogeochemistry, paleoclimate & climate dynamics, geomorphology and geophysics of the active layer. Applicants at the Assistant Professor level are sought, although outstanding individuals at all levels will be considered. We seek individuals who are interested in working in a dynamic interdisciplinary academic and research environment that includes atmospheric chemistry, geochemistry and biogeochemistry, weather and climate dynamics, hydrology, oceanography, paleoclimatology, geophysics, and planetary sciences. The Georgia Institute of Technology, one of the consistently top ranked educational/research institutions in the country, is undergoing significant growth in the earth and atmospheric sciences. The School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences currently has 29 faculty members and 92 graduate students, and has excellent facilities in the 265,000 square-foot Environmental Science and Technology Building. The School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (EAS) at Georgia Tech invites applications for the Research Frontiers Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. Fellowship applicants from Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary fields are encouraged to apply. EAS anticipates selecting several candidates to start in 2012. This competitive program provides opportunities for independent researchers doing innovative science that can bridge disciplines and can closely interact with research groups in EAS. Applicants are encouraged to identify potential mentors in EAS to discuss their research plans.
Research Frontier candidates are evaluated on the basis of their research record as well as their future promise to the scientific field. The Fellowship provides a competitive salary, travel and research funds. The term of the fellowship is up to two years. A complete application is due on the target date Jan. 31 and includes a CV, a 2-4 page research proposal, names of three references, and copies of up to 3 relevant publications. The application should be submitted electronically as pdf files to frontierpostdoc@eas.gatech.edu.
